What a wonderful day we all had on Parliament Hill last week!
The children spent most of the day on the Heath, playing football, exploring the adventure playground, and enjoying a delightful picnic lunch. Afterwards, they eagerly participated in a variety of track and field events, some of which were completely new to them. The professional set-up enabled children to attempt the long jump, high jump, and javelin alongside the customary races.
The event beautifully embodied the core values that define the Dallington School experience: relationships, Empathy, Creativity, Individuality, Play, and Enjoying the Journey.
Celebrating Relationships
The sense of community was palpable from the moment the children arrived at the Heath. Students, parents, and teachers mingled, strengthening the bonds that make our school such a special place. Relationships were at the heart of every activity, whether children working together to navigate the adventure playground or parents cheering enthusiastically from the sidelines.
Embracing Empathy
Empathy was evident in the way students supported one another throughout the day. During the football games and track events, children were seen encouraging their friends, celebrating each other’s successes, and offering a helping hand when needed. This spirit of understanding and compassion is a cornerstone of the Dallington ethos, fostering an environment where every child feels valued and supported.
Inspiring Creativity
The creativity of our students shone brightly, particularly in the adventure playground! Here, children’s imaginations ran wild as they invented games and crafted stories, transforming the space into a land of endless possibilities. Creativity was also encouraged in the track and field events, where students experimented with new techniques and approaches.
Honouring Individuality
At Dallington, we celebrate each child’s unique qualities, and this day was no exception. Whether a child was a seasoned athlete or trying a new sport for the first time, every individual was allowed to shine. The diverse range of activities ensured that there was something for everyone, allowing each child to express their individuality and talents.
Promoting Play
Play is an integral part of learning at Dallington, and the day on Parliament Hill was a testament to its importance. The adventure playground and various sports provided ample opportunities for unstructured play, which is crucial for developing physical, social, and cognitive skills.
Enjoying the Journey
Finally, the day encapsulated the joy of the journey. It wasn’t just about the athletic achievements or the stickers handed out at the end; it was about the shared experiences, the laughter, and the memories created. Children and families alike revelled in the moment, appreciating the day and the joy of being together.
A big thank you to all our families and supporters for contributing to the day’s success! Your presence and encouragement made it truly special, reinforcing the values that make the Dallington School community remarkable.
